Scott said he will sign the bill at 3:45 p.m.at a private school in Orlando because it increases school choice options for parents. I want to thank all of our law enforcement for putting their lives on the line to keep Florida's families safe. Instead, the Legislature created a new Florida Job Growth Fund that can not target individual businesses but instead will pay for job training and infrastructure meant to draw business to the state.

"SB 7022 also supports my recommended pay plan for Florida's correctional officers which enhances the safety and security of Florida's correctional institutions by ensuring that these facilities are appropriately staffed".

Almost 200 traditional public schools around the state now meet the definition of persistently low-performing in the bill, including three in Manatee County. "They need to start running their districts the way we run our state". They also slammed the last-minute appearance of the legislation, which folded together a slate of education bills that had been debated separately. The legislation also authorizes 5 percent pay raises to state law-enforcement officers and 10 percent raises to judges, state attorneys and public defenders. “He has 15 days to veto it or it becomes law.”. Scott has called for a special legislation session to work out funding differences. "The House and Senate all supported the priorities that all of us that are anxious about the future of our state care about".

- Gov. Rick Scott and House Speaker Richard Corcoran appeared to have buried the hatchet. To protect and serve is in their DNA and we are blessed to have them in our midst.

On Wednesday, Governor Rick Scott announced that Florida saw 18,146 fewer crimes in 2016.

"When I was growing up, I had access to a good quality education, and every Florida child should have the same opportunity", Scott said in a statement.

"We finally went in and said, 'Hey, we're the third-largest state, in the richest country in the world, and we have 195 failure factories, 340 if you just count a single year, the year we're in right now, those are kids who are being robbed of dignity and hope, and a chance at a world-class education and a future in this world", Corcoran said. This critical pay initiative will help us to retain and recruit qualified law enforcement personnel.

The tour included stops in Miami, West Palm Beach, Fort Myers and Tampa, during which he highlighted what his office said is an all-time budget high of K-12 per-pupil spending, the establishment of the $85 million Florida Job Growth Grant Fund, full funding for Visit Florida, and $50 million to fix the dike surrounding Lake Okeechobee. Many public education supporters complain that they also have less accountability.

But Enterprise Florida - which focused in part on giving money to businesses to come to the state - was a nonstarter for Corcoran.

The Algebra 2 exam is out in the new bill, more teachers could net bonuses, but they're still partly based on SAT and ACT exam scores.

Rank-and-file employees who now earn 40,000 dollars a year or less will get a 1,400 dollar pay increase and those earning more than 40,000 will receive a 1,000 raise.
