Sen. Kamala Harris goes after Atty. Gen. Jeff Sessions

That fact is why the treatment of Senator Harris during the testimonies of both Former Director James Comey, and Attorney General Jeff Sessions is so remarkable.

Throughout the hearing, Sessions refused to answer questions about his conversations with the president, although the president has not invoked executive privilege and such privilege is not open to Sessions. Instead, he described his refusal as a long-standing "policy" of the Department of Justice.

Kamala Harris is the only Senator who's been interrupted by another senator so far, by my count.

Sure, perhaps some of the baggage she racked up as California's Attorney General complicates her form becoming a truly unifying icon of the left. When she was chastised for not allowing Sessions to complete his answers, liberals turned it into an act of ganging up on a poor black woman. Sunny Hostin then proceeded to deliver a frothing sermon on the "stately" Senator Harris and impugn the character of Sessions by suggesting he was lying under oath. Testifying at a Senate hearing, Sessions said it was a "detestable and appalling lie" to suggest that he participated in or was aware of any collusion between Russian Federation and the Trump campaign.

SESSIONS: I'm unable to answer the questions. But he did not cite any specific DOJ rules, although he continued to refer to an established set of policy as if it existed.

Rosenstein dodged the question, replying, "Senator, I'm very sensitive about time and I'd like to have a very lengthy conversation and explain that all to you".

With each day that goes by, it's hard not to conclude that major figures in the Trump administration are deeply invested in maintaining a cover-up of discussions that have taken place with regard to the president's relationship to Russian officials and oligarchs.

Harris: Sir, I'm just asking you about ... Harris has broken a cycle that has long stood in D.C. Previously, members on The Hill were nearly always old, White, and male. "I was not interrupted", Mr Wyden said.

Prompted by Senator John McCain, Committee Chair Richard Burr interrupted Harris, telling her to "allow the witness to answer the question".

We've talked about this before. The policy is based ...

HARRIS: Did you ask that it be shown to you?

Sessions: The policy that goes beyond just the attorney general.

"Sir, sir, I have just a few minutes", Harris said.

"Will you let me qualify it?" he yells, all fake politeness dropped.

"Well, will you let me qualify it", Sessions responded. He asked, "Have you ever ever in any of these fantastical situations heard of a plot line so ridiculous that a sitting United States senator and an ambassador of a foreign government colluded at an open setting with hundreds of other people to pull off the greatest caper in the history of espionage?"

Harris: So did you not consult it before you came before this committee knowing we would ask you questions about it?

Harris: Did you not ask your staff to show you the policy that would be the basis for your refusing to answer the ...
