Amazon recruits Alexa to sell Prime subscriptions, promote deals

For those who have never used Alexa's voice shopping capabilities-there are a lot of you-Amazon is offering a $10 discount if you make your first purchase between now and Prime Day.

Customers shopping with a gadget equipped with Amazon's Alexa virtual assistant will get access to Prime Day deals two hours before anyone else.

Amazon Prime customers have exclusive access to Alexa deals starting today, through July 17th. Consumer Intelligence Research Partners said in January that 8.2 million U.S. Amazon customers now have Alexa-enabled Echo devices, according to data mailed to Retail Dive. This is an example of Amazon now using its devices and voice platform to help sell more Prime memberships. In addition, your first order with Alexa comes with a $10 credit today.

You will be able to find out about these deals by asking Alexa what the deals are, this is done by saying 'Alexa, what are your deals. Using the Amazon app you can see current and upcoming deals from wherever you are.
