Azerbaijan marks Eid al-Adha

Azerbaijan's Cabinet of Ministers, in accordance with the decision (dated 25 November 2016) on Novruz, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha holidays, declared September 1 and 2 as non-working days throughout the country on Eid al-Adha.

While Egyptians prepare the sheep for the sacrifice, streets turn slowly into wide spaces of blood.

People send Eid cards to each other at this time, Muslim people will also dress in their best clothes and attend a prayer service at their Mosque.

"This year about 2.5 million Muslims are gathered in Saudi Arabia", Dr. Mohammed Saleem Bajwa, society president and a Holyoke physician, noted in a statement.

President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday called for solidarity in his message for the Muslim celebration of Eid'l Adha as government troops continue to grapple with the threat posed by terrorists in Mindanao. Bakrid is among two major Islamic festivals celebrated worldwide each year.

Eid Al-Adha is a religious holiday celebrated by Muslims all over the world to commemorate the willingness of Abraham to sacrifice his son for God.

It culminates with the Eid al-Adha, one of the most important holidays of the Islamic calendar.

During Eid al-Adha every noble Muslim must sacrifice an animal, as a gift meat to the poor and indigent.

The start of this festival depends on the sighting of the new crescent moon and also the celebrations differ in different countries around the world.
