New Miss America chides Trump for withdrawing from worldwide climate accord

Prior to the start of the preliminary competition, Cara Mund spoke to the AP and said that she aimed to be North Dakota's first woman elected governor. "I said, "If Carson Wentz can do it, Miss North Dakota Cara Mund can become Miss America, '" she said".

During the second round of the Q&A section she was asked about the United States' decision to withdraw from the Paris agreement and whether she thinks that's a good or bad decision. For Mund, just making Miss America and getting past the top ten was an item on her bucket list, she said during the competition.

Hoover native Briana Kinsey was third runner-up in the Miss America 2018 Pageant Sunday night in Atlantic City, New Jersey. "I do believe it's a bad decision", she said. "If we do find evidence that they have had collusion with Russian Federation, the justice system should do their due diligence and they should be punished accordingly", she replied. And that's something we really need to keep in mind. Miss Wood gave a boilerplate liberal answer - Trump should have labeled the white supremacists as terrorists and made a statement sooner to make all Americans feel safe.

Mund has been accepted to study law at the University of Notre Dame and will use the $50,000 scholarship she received after becoming Miss America for her studies.

Miss Alaska, Angela Klapperich, 23, who hails from Wasilla, the same town where Sarah Palin was mayor (she was also Miss Wasilla), ventured onto the Boardwalk, sans makeup, to wish Mund well. Judge Tara Lipinski asked her what categories could be for a hypothetical Mr. America Pageant. After winning Miss North Dakota's Outstanding Teen in 2010, she competed in Miss America's Outstanding Teen in 2011.

Mund, who is given to saying "awesome!" and "amazing!" informed the small crowd that Klapperich had just won Miss Congeniality, the title bestowed by pageant contestants on one of their peers.

New victor of America's most lovely and eligible woman is Miss North Dakota.

Before that, in a ceremony that TV viewers did not see, 12 Gold Star mothers were honored onstage as honorary Miss Americas for life, and spoke about their sons who were killed while serving in the military.

Mund is a national dance champion. Incidentally, she self-choreographed her dance for Sunday's Miss America's pageant.
