DeMarcus Cousins says fan reception in Sacramento was 'beautiful'

A tribute video, which was almost a minute long, showed Cousins starring for the Kings, as an NBA All-Star, playing for USA Basketball in the 2016 Olympics and giving back to the community.

Cousins said his "anticipation was through the roof" before tipoff. "A lot of people that know me knew I was nervous as hell". The anticipation was like through the roof.

"I thought overall, we did a good job".

Rookie De'Aaron Fox scored 14 points off the bench to lead seven Kings in double figures.

Cousins said days after the deal that he viewed his trade to New Orleans as a "coward move" by Divac and he had no desire to talk to the Kings general manager about it.

Given the way he left, full of vitriol and frustration, you wouldn't expect Kings fans to be too eager to lay eyes back on DeMarcus "Boogie" Cousins.

"I'm thankful for to have had the years I had in this city". I came here as a kid and left as a man. Draymond Green was among the many people who did not think the timing of the performance was a coincidence. Cousins played like a man among boys, recording 41 points, 21 rebounds, and six assists to lead the Anthony Davis-less Pelicans to just their second win of the season. The Kings thanked Cousins for his play on the court and contributions to the community during the first quarter.

The Pelicans roster is not what one would call deep, but having Cousins mattered in the New Orleans' comeback. "We had a chance to win our previous game (in Portland, and) we kind of fumbled it down the stretch and ran into the same type of situation (Thursday)". Once the game went our way, them being young guys, not to discredit them or anything, but they don't really know how to handle those situations yet.

"Obviously, DeMarcus carried us, in nearly every phase of the game", Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry said.

"Nah. For what? It was a coward move, so I'm pretty sure I will get a coward response", Cousins told The Undefeated's Marc Spears.
