Multiple shootings kill 3, wound multiple students at school

Tehama County Assistant Sheriff Phil Johnston said one child was shot at a school, and another was shot while riding in a pick-up truck with a woman who was also wounded.

Local news reports said the incident began as a domestic dispute that escalated.

The AP reported that the shooter was killed by law enforcement after wounding some students at the school. "I don't know any information at this time about any of the victims at the school".

The school is now clear, and all other students have been brought to a safe location.

"That evolved to multiple victims and multiple shots at the school, the elementary school", he told Action News Now, a TV news channel in Northern California. Another was struck by a bullet, while in a vehicle with a woman, according to Johnston. A second child and a female adult were shot in a truck, authorities said.

Police say the suspected shooter is dead as well.

Crime tape blocks off Rancho Tehama Road leading into the Rancho Tehama subdivision south of Red Bluff, Calif., following a fatal shooting Tuesday.

It said initial reports indicated the shooter had barricaded himself inside a building before being shot by police.

"The insane thing is the neighbor has been shooting a lot of bullets lately - hundreds of rounds, large magazines", Flint said.

He said he and his roommate told authorities that their neighbor was acting "crazy" and threatening them.

Flint learned of the shooting via a phone call early Tuesday. "I just feel like there maybe should have been more effort put into stopping things like this".

About 100 students attend the school where the shooting took place, according to a school official.

At least one student was wounded at the school.

The shooting has happened in a small California community.
