Super "Frost" moon this weekend

Воскресенье, 03 Дек, 2017

It won't be quite as bright as the last supermoon on November 14, 2016, when the moon was closer to Earth than at any time in almost 69 years. Some people call the second full Moon in a month a Blue Moon, that makes it a super "blue Moon.' Blue Moons happen every two and a half years, on average".

An airplane flies past the moon above Stamford, Conn. on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016.

A description of the moon's orbit. It's more like an oval, so at times it's closer to the Earth than it is at other times. The point farthest away from the Earth is called apogee.

Supermoon is the term given to the moon when it's two cycles around the earth match up. As a result, the moon appears to be up to 14 percent larger and 30 percent brighter during a supermoon. The weather in West Michigan looks to cooperate with partly cloudy to mostly clear skies from Saturday evening to Sunday morning.

"It is said that the moon appears larger because we compare it with terrestrial objects such as trees or buildings".

Rare sighting of the first and last supermoon of the year will be observed today all over the world including Pakistan.

Or, you know-you could just look out your window.

When's the best time to view the supermoon?

This optical illusion also occurs when watching the supermoon immediately after sunset (or before sunrise).

And this will be a particularly bright supermoon for the United States, thanks to the more intense sunlight that reflects off the moon in winter, NASA said.

Will you be sky-watching on Monday night? That'll be a super moon, even by Neil deGrasse Tyson's standards.

"Tap the screen and hold your finger on the object (in this case, the moon) to lock the focus".

What's the difference between a supermoon and a Blue Moon?
