Stung by Michael Wolff's book, Trump calls for stronger USA libel laws

Charles Harder of Harder Mirell & Abrams, who is representing both the President and the Trump campaign, has said that allegations made by Bannon "give rise to numerous legal claims including defamation by libel and slander, and breach of his written confidentiality and non-disparagement agreement with our clients". Jarvanka helped engineer Mr. Bannon's August ouster from his White House job.

After resuming his position at Breitbart, Bannon set out to challenge Republican incumbents deemed insufficiently loyal to the Trump administration.

Since Mr. Trump has always emerged the victor from his previous broken marriages, there was never any doubt who would end out on top once his bromance with Mr. Bannon turned sour.

If Breitbart slips in Bannon's absence the Daily Caller, increasingly moulded by Johnson, is a prime candidate to replace it at the centre of the conservative internet. He issued a statement Sunday praising the president's eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., whom he was quoted accusing of treasonous behavior in the book. But the turn for the worse came in their relations when Time magazine titled Mr. Bannon as the "second most powerful man in the world".

But those projects might require fundraising and Mr Bannon, through his falling-out with Mr Trump, has alienated the billionaire Mercer clan, which would have been his most natural source of financial support. "It becomes relevant, because many of us who read the book, and I read the book, are trying to understand where the White House denies it, well what's true and what's not true?" Because Trumpism, to the extent it exists, was never about Steve Bannon, nationalism, isolationism, or for that matter about anything resembling something close to a coherent ideology or a mature worldview.

"The Presidency that we fought for and won is over", Mr. Bannon declared as he left the White House.

"He called me a "great man" last night so you know, he obviously changed his tune pretty quick", said President Trump. He has long gleefully engaged in the culture wars that animated Bannon, targeting campus leftists and establishment Republicans with glee. On his part, Mr. Trump, too, does not rule out a future association with Mr. Bannon.

In what was seen as an attempt to show Trump is mentally fit and in command, the president had kept a pool of reporters, including a TV camera, inside of a meeting he had on Tuesday with USA lawmakers on immigration. A person familiar with the matter confirmed the representation but said Burck was advising Bannon only in relation to the House committee interview and his time on the presidential campaign.

"I know that when I write e-mails seeking interviews, my word choice is to say, I will treat the individual with dignity and respect".
