Trump willing to talk to Mueller under oath

Saturday, 27 Jan, 2018

The attorney general is a key witness to both the Trump campaigns alleged ties to Russian Federation and the president's possible efforts to obstruct the Russian Federation probe - the two major issues for Mueller and his team. "I think we all know what everybody in this room would do if the President did that, and I don't think that is helpful to the process".

Meantime, the back-and-forth about what format a presidential interview would take continues.

Asked about Mr Mueller's investigation, White House spokesman Raj Shah told Fox News, "We believe it will end soon and find what we've known all along, which is that there was no collusion during the 2016 campaign and no findings of wrongdoing". Three are run by congressional panels.

Sources told Reuters earlier on Wednesday that senior United States intelligence officers, including Central Intelligence Agency director Mike Pompeo, had been questioned by Mr Mueller's team about whether Mr Trump had tried to obstruct justice in the Russian Federation probe.

What is the president being interviewed about?

Cobb said Trump emphasized that he remained committed to cooperating with the investigation and looked forward to speaking with Mueller.

But Rosenstein has said that he has seen no "good cause to fire Mueller", so in order to fire the special counsel he would likely have to fire a series of Justice Department officials until he found someone willing to get rid of Mueller. The president's campaign has turned over more than 1.4 million pages of documents.

Trump also added that he doesn't recall asking then-acting Federal Bureau of Investigation director Andrew McCabe past year about who he voted for in 2016.

But hasn't the president criticized this investigation?

Sources familiar with the matter told CNN that Mueller had provided Trump's lawyers with possible interview topics.

Mueller's is just one of several ongoing investigations into Russian meddling in the 2016 U.S. presidential election. "She didn't do it under oath, but I would do it under oath, " he said.

When will the interview happen?

Calling the Russian Federation investigation a "witch hunt" and a "hoax", Trump had previously said he thought it "unlikely" he would be interviewed by Mueller.

Will he do it under oath?

The president said he's "not at all concerned" about what Sessions may have told Mueller's team.

Who else has been interviewed by Mueller's probe?

In general, the interview will focus on the dismissal of both Flynn and Comey, according to the media outlet.
