India vs South Africa 2nd T20I : 5 reasons for India's defeat

Sunday, 25 Feb, 2018

After winning the toss at SuperSport Park in Centurion, South Africa put India to bat. With Centurion largely being on the slower side throughout the tour, expect Kohli to line up with two spinners on Wednesday.

The match was the second of a double-header, with the first one seeing India Women face off against South Africa Women at the same venue.

Jasprit Bumrah did not feature in the second T20I due to abdominal strain. Will the team management risk playing him given the shortened time-frame of this match? And fortunately for him, that's what happened. India was unexpectedly at 0/1 in 1.1 overs. They can promote Suresh Raina to bolster the batting.

41 of Klaasen's runs came off the bowling of Yuzvendra Chahal including five sixes with the big keeper using brute force to generate pace on the ball. "So when I got the first two boundaries, I thought this is the over I got to target".

Rohit Sharma is making a bad habit of going missing in crunch games and the second T20I was a ideal example of the same. Pandey's struggle to find his timing meant that the onus of upping the ante fell on MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya.

As South Africa draw level, Kohli says constant drizzle made life hard for bowlers India skipper Virat Kohli blamed the weather god for making life hard for his bowlers after they failed to defend a total of 188 against South Africa in the second T20 worldwide at centirion on Wednesday night. "The way JP told me to go, this over needs to go for 20, it takes all the fear out of your game". The duo remained unbeaten at 52 (28) and 79 (48), respectively.

Despite India having coped well with the short ball on this tour, especially from the third Test onwards, the Proteas have persisted with that plan to the tourists.

But Pooja lacked support from the other end as her new ball partner Shikha Pandey once again went for runs. The timing - the last ball of the fifth over - didn't help either. It's something you dream about when you're a young kid, to play on your home ground and win a game for your country. And Klaasen didn't disappoint. His innings consisted of a total of seven towering sixes and three fours.

JP was the key factor to my whole innings. South Africa has a good site but when comparison comes then India has better than SA. Or South Africa bounced back? But Duminy took charge and he and Farhaan Behardien together scored 36 runs in just 21 balls. He had also bowled a crucial spell of two overs giving away just 13 runs and claiming the wicket of Shikhar Dhawan.

In the ongoing Twenty20 series, Klaasen is averaging 42.50 and has a strike-rate of 223.68. Duminy slammed Unadkat for two sixes off the third and fourth balls, taking the Proteas to victory in style - and with eight balls to spare. And when they got the chance to bat first at Wanderers, they showed great determination to give themselves a consolation win!

A brilliant all-round show helped India beat South Africa by 28 runs in the first Twenty-20 worldwide (T20I) at the New Wanderers Stadium here on Sunday. It is set to be a rain-free evening for the final match of the series, which should come as an encouragement for the bowlers.
