Trump Appoints Brad Parscale as His Campaign Manager For 2020 Election

Friday, 02 Mar, 2018

U.S. President Donald Trump's campaign announced on Tuesday that his campaign had hired Brad Parscale, the digital media director of his 2016 campaign, to run his re-election bid in 2020.

The release said the announcement would be involved in the 2018 midterm election pivotal for the future of Trump's presidency by "providing candidates with general support, endorsements and rallying the support of the political grassroots by engaging Trump supporters in districts and states".

As CBS News points out, Trump already filed for re-election with the Federal Election Commission just hours after his inauguration a year ago, in addition to the fact that he's held several re-election campaign rallies already. Suddenly, the San Antonio firm was known less for its rustic interiors and more for winning Trump's election.

"His leadership and expertise will be help build a best-in-class campaign", Kushner said. A political newcomer with a background in marketing, Parscale, encouraged by Kushner, thought the same tools he was using in business could apply to politics.

His digital nous allowed him to spot how the tides were turning in the last week of the 2016 election, and he made the ultimately crucial decision of transferring money from Virginia and OH into the states that won Trump the White House.

"Brad is an wonderful talent and was pivotal to our success in 2016", Eric Trump said in the Tuesday announcement.

Parscale is now serving as the digital media director for America First Policies, a nonprofit group whose aim is to bolster Trump's agenda.

"After some discussion we've made a decision to share the CPM comparison on Trump campaign ads vs. Clinton campaign ads", Andrew Bosworth said in a tweet, referring to cost-per-1000-impressions, a typical measure of the price of a digital ad campaign.

Parscale served as the digital director for Trump in 2016, tailoring a strategy to reach people on Facebook, Twitter and Google.

Trump's White House has been grappling with the security clearance issue since it emerged this month that staff secretary Rob Porter worked for Trump for a year with a temporary clearance despite accusations by his two former wives of domestic abuse.

While this chart does show that the Trump campaign paid higher rates overall than the Clinton campaign did-and that how competitive the ad market gets as the election approaches-it doesn't tell the full story. Trump has angrily denounced and publicly marginalized Paul Manafort, his former campaign chairman, whom he blames for smearing the president's reputation with his own entanglements to Russian Federation. "It was the first time he had ever, just- I hadn't even seen him yell at anyone, let alone me", Parscale said a year ago.
