Getting Nasty: Cuomo Supporter Calls Gubernatorial Candidate Cynthia Nixon An 'Unqualified Lesbian'

Thursday, 22 Mar, 2018

"I allowed an hour and a half for what should have been a 30 minute ride".

Republican candidate for governor, State Senate Deputy Majority Leader John DeFrancisco says he welcomes Nixon to the race. The subway is the lifeblood of our city.

"I love NY".

The entire MTA, which operates the network of buses, trains, and subways in downstate NY, has been under increasing strain over the last two decades amid overcrowding, outdated equipment, and mismanagement. For candidates vying for the governor's mansion, it seems that the first stop may just be the nearest subway vehicle. After her previous comment in the interview was published, Christine took to Twitter to clarify them in a series of tweets.

Photo Cynthia Nixon found fame on a show that celebrated luxury in the city.

The email fundraiser, which includes the unqualified lesbian quote, describes Quinn, without mentioning her by name, as a top surrogate for incumbent Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

Nixon said she voted for Cuomo eight years ago in hopes of his being a "real Democrat", but that "New York's eight years under the Cuomo administration have been an exercise in living with disappointment, dysfunction and dishonesty". "Another candidate has stepped forward, and she clearly has the resources and infrastructure that are needed to secure a place on the ballot and win".

Nixon was one of several celebrities who spoke in January at the People's State of the Union, a left-wing response to President Trump's State of the Union address. "And they were dead right".

Just a day after Nixon had announced her campaign, Quinn spoke out against her, referring to the actress as "an unqualified lesbian". Ms. Quinn, who is also gay, described herself as a "qualified lesbian" whom Ms. Nixon failed to endorse as mayor back in 2013. The State Democratic Party also did not answer requests to respond.

"Today New York schools are the second most unequal in the entire country, and the gap between the richest and the poorest schools has grown wider today under Andrew Cuomo than it's ever been".

Before her speech, Rabbi Sharon Kleinbaum introduced her saying "We're proud of you as an artist, we're proud of you as an activist, we're proud of you as a partner and as a parent". Nixon later became a spokesperson for the Alliance for Quality Education and has fought city plans that would result in "de facto" segregation of public schools.

Reposting Cynthia Nixon's campaign video, he captioned the post, 'I cant think of anyone who's more prepared, more caring, more educated on the issues and more READY than @cynthiaenixon'. To Christine's barbs of her being an unqualified lesbian, Cynthia said that the race is not about "her being a lesbian and my being a lesbian".
