Watch Toyota Reveal The All-New RAV4 In New York

Thursday, 29 Mar, 2018

Arguably the most anticipated debut at this year's New York Auto Show is the next-generation Toyota RAV4.

Toyota was a long-time CarPlay holdout, but this past January the company announced the 2019 Toyota Avalon as the first vehicle to support the platform with more announcements to come. So, the arrival of the all-new 2019 RAV4 SUV at the New York Auto show can be referred as the most important new vehicle of the auto industry debuting at the auto show. The Adventure has high-mounted roof rails for outdoor adventures. All conventional RAV4s for Canada are built in Woodstock, Ont., and for the first time, the hybrid will also be built in Canada. The front end packs angular LED headlights, squared-off octagon wheel arches, and new grilles and at back there's LED taillamps, dual exhaust, and a spoiler. However, an XSE Hybrid model is all-new and with it comes standard two-tone exterior paint. This model's direct predecessor started life under the Scion iM nameplate, but after Toyota axed its youth brand, it absorbed the model into its portfolio, rechristening it Corolla iM. Toyota notes that the 2019 RAV4 comes with a 1.2-inch longer wheelbase and a half-inch wider while coming in slightly shorter overall when compared to the 2018 edition. Toyota calls this AWD-i, but has increased available rear wheel torque by 30 percent more than the previous-gen AWD-i.

All in all, it appears Toyota has pulled out all the stops with the 2019 RAV4.

Those include the new luxury Ram pickup truck, and the new Nissan Altima and Toyota RAV4. Considering this, the RAV4 isn't just Toyota's most loved offering, but it has given Toyota that much sales and revenue too. The standard fare will be just the normal gas engine, while Toyota will also offer the same engine mated to its hybrid system. The Japanese firm knows it and now, it offers the 2019 variants with several trims. The new Dynamic Torque Vectoring All-Wheel Drive system can send 50 percent of engine torque to the rear wheels, plus distribute it to the left or right rear wheel.

A new hybrid electric 2.5-litre powertrain combines fuel and emissions efficiency and quiet operation with more power and greater responsiveness.

In addition to its new platform, the Corolla Hatchback also receives a new naturally aspirated "Dynamic-Force" four-cylinder engine.

As many as five USB ports are available inside the CUV, and there is an optional 11-speaker, 800-watt JBL audio system. For the higher trim nonhybrid models, Toyota has introduced Dynamic Torque Vectoring All-Wheel Drive with Rear Driveline Disconnect. In US, the new RAV4 will go n sale later this year and its Hybrid version will hit showrooms in early 2019.
