Earlier on Monday, her father died in a hospital while in judicial custody.

Samjawaid party president Akhilesh Yadav demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for the killing of a gang rape victim's father in judicial custody in Unnao on Monday.

The police didn't even register a case against the MLA in order to carry on the investigation but the father had been pursuing this case in one of the local courts for nearly a year.

Meanwhile, the BJP MLA in question, Kuldeep Singh Sengar, said there was no allegation against him.

The police, however, was yet to arrest the main accused Kuldeep Singh, a Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) MLA from Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh. The police somehow managed to control the woman and took the entire family to Gautam Palli police station. They have also claimed that the MLA's brother Atul Sengar had attacked the woman's father and threatened them with filing further complaints. She said that her father had sustained multiple injuries after the BJP MLA's brother and some of his accomplices beat him up some days ago. Police did not book them.

The man was admitted to the district hospital on late night Sunday by the Police authorities when he complaint of abdominal pain and vomiting. "My husband has been murdered by the MLA and his men", the deceased's wife said. Strangely, a case has not been lodged in this regard, said the reports.

A magisterial inquiry has been ordered into the custodial death with state director general of police, OP Singh stating that strict action would be taken against those found guilty.

Following the Chief Minister's orders, the Uttar Pradesh government suspended four police officers, including the Station House Officer of Makhi, Ashok Shukla, and three constables. "Those at fault, whoever they might be, will not be spared".

A woman along with her family attempted to end her life on Sunday, April 9. "I had even approached the CM to no result".

Sengar denied the allegations, saying it was a conspiracy to tarnish his image. This is a conspiracy by my opponents. The accused in the rape case is an Uttar Pradesh BJP MLA. "There is no allegation against me, I am open to any kind of investigation", he said.
