Syrian air defense forces targeted an Israeli F-16 fighter jet that was involved in the attack with over 25 anti-aircraft missiles.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry has also lashed out at the Western states that had conducted a joint massive missile strike on targets in Syria and warned of "regional consequences".
"USA president, United Kingdom prime minister and the president of France are criminals", Khamenei said in a speech cited by Iranian TV.
Syria's capital has been rocked by loud explosions that lit up the sky with heavy smoke as U.S. President Donald Trump announced airstrikes in retaliation for the country's alleged use of chemical weapons.
"These are not the actions of a man", Trump said of last weekend's attack in a televised address from the White House Diplomatic Room.
In recent days the administration had weighed how to intensify the attack without collapsing the Assad regime or drawing Russian Federation or Iran further into the fight.
US, British and French forces hit Syria with air strikes overnight in response to a poison gas attack that killed dozens of people last week.
"With their actions, the U.S.is deepening a humanitarian catastrophe in Syria", he said, calling for an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council to discuss the situation.
"President Trump must also hold Putin accountable for his enabling of the Assad regime's atrocities against the Syrian people", Pelosi said.
The Trump administration sought to prebut claims from such allies after launching about 120 missiles Friday at three targets in Syria associated with the government's chemical weapons efforts.
He reaffirmed Russia's view that a purported chemical attack in the Syrian town of Douma that prompted the strike was a fake.
Trump condemned Russian Federation and Iran for their ties to the regime, saying they are "most responsible for supporting, equipping and financing the criminal Assad regime".
He added that the US military is not aware of any civilian deaths.
The advanced Iranian drone believed to be a copy of a United States stealth drone that was downed in Iran in 2011, took off from the T-4 airbase deep in the Syrian province of Homs and crossed into Israeli territory via Jordanian airspace.
Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, for his part, denounced the airstrikes as a "murder".
Johnson said: "The world is united in its disgust for any use of chemical weapons, but especially against civilians".
The Syrian government has denied using chemical weapons against enemy forces.
