Trump morally unfit for post, says Comey

On Wednesday morning, Trump said that Comey was "not fired because of the phony Russian Federation investigation", contradicting his statements past year when he told NBC News that he had "this Russian Federation thing" on his mind when he made a decision to fire Comey. He also wrote that Trump is "morally unfit" to occupy the Oval Office and called him a "serial liar".

Conservatives, on the other hand, lashed out over his interaction with Trump, with the president tweeting out on April 16.

Comey was speaking with ABC News' George Stephanopoulos over the weekend when he slammed his former boss for publicly commenting on Clinton's investigation; adding the President's comments "really did surprise" him.

MI republican congressman Tim Walberg says, revealing private conversations, with the President of the United States no less, isn't right. "I gave it under oath to the Senate a year ago". In other words, he was making decisions based on the fact that he thought she was going to win, and he wanted a job. "He is morally incapacitated to be president".

Though he didn't say outright if he believed the president would fire special prosecutor Robert Mueller as well, he did say he hoped it would "set off alarm bells that this is his most serious attack yet on the rule of law". 3 presidents are in my book: 2 help illustrate the values at the heart of ethical leadership; 1 serves as a counterpoint.

"This is somebody who wants a payday", said Ronna McDaniel, the chairwoman of the Republican National Committee, told CNN.

"I don't think I'd be a good president, but I'd be a better president", Colbert said. Before the interview aired Sunday, the president tweeted about Comey, calling him "a man who always ends up badly and out of whack (he is not smart!)" Comey dug deeper into a variety of subjects, including concerns over whether the Russians have something to hold over Trump and how Comey handled the Hillary Clinton email saga.

"The big questions in Comey's badly reviewed book aren't answered like, how come he gave up Classified Information (jail), why did he lie to Congress (jail), why did the DNC refuse to give Server to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (why didn't they TAKE it), why the phony memos, McCabe's $700,000 & more?" And then he says something that distracted me.'If there's even a 1 per cent chance my wife thinks that's true, that's bad'. Comey concluded in July 2016 that Clinton had been "extremely careless" in her handling of classified material but recommended the Justice Department not pursue criminal charges.

James Comey said on Wednesday that he no longer considers himself a member of the Grand Old Party. "I don't buy this stuff about him being mentally incompetent or early stages of dementia", Comey said.

"Values matter. This president does not reflect the values of this country", he said of Mr Donald Trump.

Stephanopoulos also asked Comey whether Congress should take legal action against Trump.
