Mayor Giuliani, a former federal prosecutor and longtime Trump ally, said he formalized his decision, and had dinner with the President last week at the Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.

Last night, fringe right-wing conspiracy theorist Liz Crokin posted a video on YouTube celebrating the news that Rudy Giuliani has joined President Trump's legal team, insisting that the development is "amazing" and "so huge" because it means that her contention that a video showing Hillary Clinton sexually abusing and cutting the face off of a child will soon be released for all to see.

The bombastic Republican spoke with Trump Thursday about his legal strategy in a conversation that included lawyer Jay Sekulow.

Sekulow praised Giuliani for being a great friend to the president "for a long time".

Other lawyers joining the president's personal defense team include Jane Serene Raskin and Marty Raskin.

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani introduces Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump at a rally at the Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, on August 18, 2016.

The former NY mayor told The Washington Post on Thursday that he hopes to "negotiate an end" to the investigation into Russian interference in the election "for the good of the country". "Hopefully we can speed it up", Mr. Giuliani said. The president downplayed the likelihood he would fire Mueller or deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who oversees the investigaton.

It was the Federal Bureau of Investigation raid on Cohen's home and office that led Trump to rethink his position that he'd be happy to sit down for a chitchat with Mueller and his legal team. "I have no idea how it could have slipped my mind", he said. President-elect Trump continues to hold meetings Trump Tower. "I know that Rudy has made it clear that the goal is to try to get this wrapped up here as expeditiously as possible". He also intensified his public criticism of the Mueller investigation, calling it "an attack on our country".

The president recently exploded on Mueller in a Twitter rant where he claimed the investigation "A TOTAL WITCH HUNT" and the reason for the deteriorating relationship with Russian Federation.

"I have had the privilege of working with Mayor Giuliani for many years, and we welcome his expertise", said Sekulow.
