Roseanne Barr blames Ambien for tweet; drug maker replies

United States comedian Roseanne Barr said she was exhausted of "being attacked and belittled" and blamed sleep aid Ambien for her tweet that compared a black former Obama administration official to an ape, a racist remark that sparked a wave of outrage.

The comic was initially contrite after ABC dropped the show, saying: 'I just want to apologize to the hundreds of people, and wonderful writers (all liberal) and talented actors who lost their jobs on my show due to my stupid tweet'. And I am going to tell you the truth, she wanted it to happen, if you saw how her tweets escalated this weekend. "I made a mistake I wish I hadn't but.don't defend it please. ty".

And after ABC cancelled the Roseanne reboot, the actress took to Twitter once again, blaming her lapse in judgement on sleeping pill Ambien.

Arnold, who has a TV show on Viceland called "The Hunt for the Trump Tapes with Tom Arnold", faulted ABC for failing to keep Barr away from social media.

The tweet led the Disney-owned ABC network to cancel its hit revival of her "Roseanne" sitcom.

She later said: "I think Joe Rogan is right about ambien". ABC president Channing Dungey explained that, "Roseanne's Twitter statement is 'abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values'".

President Donald Trump weighed in on ABC's unexpected cancellation of top-rated series Roseanne in typical Trump fashion by making it about himself.

She singled out Wanda Sykes, the show's consulting producer, who had announced she would not return for season two.

"I have to say this about the president we have, and his gaslighting and lying", Arnold continued. Yes, I have had odd ambien experiences on tweeting late at night-like many other ppl do.

But Barr fired back: 'I created the platform for that inclusivity and you know it. ME.

In a now-deleted message, she wrote: "Guys I did something unforgiveable so do not defend me. I'm anxious about the people out there who don't have a circle of friends and followers who come right to their defense". That's partly why Barr attacked her. Barr frequently uses her Twitter account to deride Democrats. One executive producer on the show said they felt "gut-punched" when they learned the news. "I've been up there [11] times already, and if I didn't get one I'm not gonna get one".
