LeBron James #23 of the Cleveland Cavaliers dribbles down the court in the third quarter against the Brooklyn Nets during their game at Barclays Center on March 25, 2018 in the Brooklyn borough of New York City.

"When I was younger, I didn't have a dad, so my whole thing was whenever I have a kid, I'm going to do everything that this man didn't do", James said, adding: "It's up to them to take their own course, whenever that time comes". The school will act as a learning facility for 240 at-risk OH children in the third and fourth grade with plans to expand to grades 1-8 by 2022.

James helped open the public school by funding it through the LeBron James Family Foundation, helping provide funding for the construction and management of the school.

James hopes that in opening this school it will not only help countless children but also possibly help who he describes as, "the future Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, Sean Diddy Combs, Jay Z, maybe even the next LeBron James".

"The excitement that I have to be a Laker, I'm happy to be a part of it because I believe the Lakers (are) a historical franchise - we all know that", James continued. On Sunday night, James was understandably nervous about what he called his "first day of school". According to Keith Liechty, the Akron Public Schools' liaison to the James' Foundation, they looked at reading data and identified students who were a year or two behind in the subject. Hopefully Monday's school opening is just the first of many more great days for the three-time National Basketball Association champ in Northeast Ohio.

James also talked about the emotions he feels while watching his sons - Bronny is a 5-foot-10 AAU star - play in basketball tournaments, something he's done much more frequently in recent years.

"THE SHOP is exactly why we created UNINTERRUPTED", says LeBron James. "I walked the same streets".
