Off-duty Texas officer entered wrong apartment, shot and killed resident

A white Dallas police officer who said she mistook a black neighbor's apartment for her own fatally shot that person, and authorities are seeking manslaughter charges, police said Friday.

Dallas Police Chief Rene Hall said in the interest of being as transparent as possible, she has invited the Texas Rangers to take over the investigation. He died shortly after.
