GOP ramps up election-season warning of ‘toxic’ Dem tactics

Launching in a tirade at a MS rally, President Donald Trump mocked Ford's testimony, calling her evil and emphasizing that "a man's life is in tatters".

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi vowed that if Democrats take the House in November, there will be multiple investigations into the adequacy of the Republican investigation of Judge Kavanaugh. "They want more. And I'm afraid this is only Phase One of the meltdown".

"I think that for Utah embracing Trump is embracing lying and cheating and incivility and I don't think most Utahns are OK with that", Thomas said. In his opening statement, he vacillated between angrily accusing Democrats of ruining his reputation for partisan ends and choking back sobs as he denied any and all allegations of sexual assault.

The allegations against the nominee were "all made up, it was fabricated and it was a disgrace", Mr Trump said.

Tuesday's cases involved the 1984 Armed Career Criminal Act, a "three-strikes-and-you're-out" criminal sentencing law that boosts prison sentences for people who are convicted of crimes involving guns if they previously have been convicted of certain other crimes. It was unclear if he was referring to the accusers, their lawyers or Democratic lawmakers.

But he later questioned her credibility and mocked her at a rally.

Democrats have led in the poll by as many as 8 percentage points, and just last week they had held a five-point advantage (47-42 percent).

The Kavanaugh confirmation process is believed by many to have been the most contentious for a nominee to the high court in modern history.

What about Christine Blasey Ford?

Now, with Kavanaugh on the bench, Democrats seem to be the angry ones.

Lawyer Debra Katz told MSNBC: "It's going to be quite some time before they're able to live at home".

There was a long line of people hoping to see Kavanaugh's first appearance.

A handful of Democratic lawmakers, including congressmen Luis Gutierrez of IL and Ted Lieu of California, have pressed for Justice Kavanaugh's removal.

"We have to have the truth", she said.

"If the Senate is serious about the federal judiciary, each senator must reject attempts to confirm these lifetime nominees without adequate time and debate", Gupta said.

The fight over Kavanaugh has "energized our base like nothing else we've been able to come up with", McConnell said.

Kavanaugh is expected to push the court further to the right as he is replacing Kennedy, a conservative who sometimes voted with the liberal justices on key social issues such as abortion and gay rights. He was acquitted by the Senate the following year.

Karen LeCraft Henderson, the judge responsible for sending the complaints up the ladder, claims that she had dismissed the more frivolous objections against Kavanaugh before taking action to pass the rest onto Roberts. You have to go back to the 1880s to find the last time when one party controlled the Senate and another party controlled the Presidency, a vacancy created in a presidential election year was filled.

They thus forced a public hearing of charges of attempted rape against a nominee, demanded the FBI investigate all charges of sexual misconduct when Kavanaugh was a teenager, and ended up losing anyway.
