Apex Legends came in hotter than an orbital drop pod on Monday, and developer Respawn is already teasing full-on new maps and modes for the game.
As a Fortnite competitor we can probably expect to see Apex Legends hit PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
McCoy also addressed why this game set in the Titanfall universe lacks titans... It is a squad-based battle royale game, where you can play as one of eight Legends each with its own characteristics.
You'll play in teams of three in matches with up to 60 players, and as with other battle royale titles, your can revive your teammates from a downed state.
There are no pilotable mechs in the game. The latest entry to the battle royale genre comes from Respawn Entertainment and Electronic Arts (EA) and is free to download and play.
This afternoon, Zampella took to Twitter to talk about the exciting plans that Respawn has moving forward for Apex Legends. Apex's default map is a good deal smaller than Fortnite's though, so maybe it would be better to just put out an entirely new one every now and then, a la PUBG? According to McCoy, it seems as though the team was experimenting with battle royale but decided to make it a full-fledged game rather then a mode tacked on to another game. "You can earn a total of 45 Apex Packs from Player Levels 1 - 100". Currently, eight of these characters are available out of which two are locked and can be purchased with in-game currency.
Apex Legends also offers up a variety of purchasable items such as character banners, quips, and skins for both the player and their weapon.
Characters in Apex Legends also have special traits. It's not clear if Titanfall 3 was ever actually in development or if Apex Legends was the game the studio had planned to develop all along.
Does this will make it possible for friends that are playing the game to appear in the squad menu of the game.
