"He'll address whether that was invoked and what that looked like", KerriKupec said.
"And at the same time, the president took no act that in fact deprived the special counsel of the documents and witnesses necessary to complete his investigation", Barr said. But given the volcanic political temperature in Washington and the left-right chasm through the rest of the country ahead of Trump's 2020 re-election bid, the debate over what really happened is likely to rage on. Mueller concluded that there was no evidence of collusion by Trump, anyone on his campaign, or any USA citizen. He said he was being factual and simply outlining the process of the report's release. And what Mr. Barr said is the key to a crime in connection with that is to be involved in the actual hacking.
Attorney General William Barr's credibility will be tested Thursday as the public and Congress judge whether he is using his post to protect Trump.
The Justice Department's careful excisions begin as early as the fourth page of the report.
Barr said that he and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein disagreed with some of Mueller's "legal theories" about obstruction of justice and concluded that the special counsel did not have "sufficient" evidence to establish that Trump committed an obstruction of justice offense. But we also know that Mueller wanted to interview Trump and that the White House fought it for months.
Barr formulated the report's roll-out and briefed the White House on his plans, according to a White House official who was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.
But Trump's Democratic opponents on Capitol Hill will be combing through the redacted 400-page report to see if any of the "10 episodes" of potential obstruction amount to grounds for impeachment.
Mueller also said there was not sufficient evidence to charge any campaign officials with working as an unregistered foreign agent of Russian Federation.
Yet there was no evidence the Trump campaign worked with Russians to publicize the stolen documents, and there was "no conspiracy to violate USA law involving Russia-linked persons and persons linked to the Trump campaign".
One of the efforts that Trump made to influence the investigation into Russian interference came even before Mueller was name as special counsel. Barr has said the report shows no evidence President Trump or his associates colluded with Russian Federation. At his news conference, Barr said he was standing by his own ruling, noting that Trump had no intention to obstruct and had merely been "frustrated and angered". He emphasised that Mueller found no collusion between Trump's campaign and Moscow.
According to Politico, a redacted version of Mueller's report won't be handed over to Congress before 11 am ET. As soon as Barr concluded his remarks, and more than an hour before Mueller's report was released, Trump tweeted a taunt over an image inspired by the HBO show "Game of Thrones".
US Attorney General William Barr has reiterated that investigators found "no collusion" between President Trump's election campaign and Russian Federation. But how liberally he interprets those categories is yet to be seen. They have targeted news outlets and individual reporters they say have promoted the collusion story.
It remains unclear whether the White House would move to invoke executive privilege in an attempt to keep portions of the report from Congress and the American public.
Late Wednesday, Nadler joined the chairs of four other House committees in calling for Barr to cancel his news conference.
Still, the attorney general said Mueller stopped short of exonerating the president of obstructing justice. President Trump faced an unprecedented situation. The inquiry led to dozens of indictments, including against Russian nationals and several former members of Trump's coterie, such as his campaign manager and lawyer.
