Tiger Woods and Donald Trump soon will cross paths again.

China's number one Li Haotong said today he didn't realise how good Tiger Woods was - until he played with his golfing idol at the Masters last month.

The medal is considered the nation's highest civilian honour.

Tiger Woods of the United States walks on the second hole during the third round of the Masters at Augusta National Golf Club on April 13, 2019 in Augusta, Georgia.

Trump also congratulated Woods on Twitter during and immediately after his Masters victory.

The scene at Augusta sparked memories of Woods' glory years in the early 2000s, and Rose said Woods' presence as a threat makes competition even sweeter.

"I always thought it was possible if I had everything go my way", said Woods recently.

The rest of the field of the upcoming PGA Championship must wait until next week to learn their tee times and pairings, but three players already know their playing partners for the first two days of the tournament.

Woods' victory marked his first Masters victory in 14 years, after a series of back problems and personal problems threatened to end his career.

Woods, who is set to be paired in the opening two rounds with Open champion Francesco Molinari and US Open and defending US PGA champion Brooks Koepka, is returning to a venue where he won the US Open in 2002. According to the White House, it is given to individuals who have "made exceptional contributions to the security or national interests of America, to world peace, or to cultural or other significant public or private endeavors".

"It's very important to me to support the Volvo China Open, that's why I have come back to play", he told AFP.

The result took him to within touching distance of fellow American Jack Nicklaus' record of 18 majors. Except for a couple of years ago when I couldn't walk.

"And meanwhile thinking, 'OK, let's just focus on my game.' But also, I've got to know the scenarios".
