Raptors win at Philadelphia to even series — Sunday's National Basketball Association roundup

Thursday, 09 May, 2019

The series is heading back to Toronto for Game 5 which goes down on Tuesday at 8 P.M. EST.

Yet Leonard is at once of the Raptors and apart from them, a perception only enhanced by the reality that, because he will be an unrestricted free agent this summer, he might not return to the team once this postseason ends.

"(Sunday) was one of those nights where we (said), you know what, even though we didn't have an opportunity to play together a long time, we're going to just try it out there", Ibaka said.

Leonard has scored at least 30 points in each of the four games of the series.

The Raptors have a chance to regain the series lead on Tuesday night.

Kawhi Leonard continued his fantastic playoffs with 39 points, 14 rebounds and five assists in the game.

But his teammates were as much the story in Sunday's win.

Nurse said that the team needed "some punch" on the court, which is how he landed on what he described as some funkier lineups.

"We just thought it was a different mentality tonight than it was the other night, right?" said Nurse. "Guys were looking to shoot, taking the first shot that was there".

The 2014 NBA Finals MVP is putting up historic numbers with 38.0 points per game on 61.8 percent shooting to go along with 9.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per contest. "Once I step on the court, I have to do a better job, no matter what the situation is".

Embiid entered the matchup coming off one of his best performances of the playoffs.

Sixers coach Brett Brown labelled his shot, which was converted over All-Star centre Joel Embiid with 61 seconds remaining and the visitors clinging to a 91-90 lead, as "backbreaking".

"To his complete credit, he just kind of willed his way through". Simmons believes they should keep the same focus, despite Sunday's loss. Serge Ibaka, the only bench player to log significant minutes, had 12 points and nine rebounds. A Raptors fan stood in the arena's aisle and rocked an imaginary baby two days after a showboating Embiid did the same thing. "I appreciate and respect his effort to get out there and play for his team".

But the Raptors responded.

Though he's not on the team's official injury report anymore, Toronto Raptors forward Pascal Siakam has been dealing with a touch of calf soreness.

The fourth quarter started all tied up at 75-75. He had five three-pointers, including a step-back dagger in the last minute that helped seal the victory.

"There was about three seconds left on the [shot] clock".

Then there is Toronto, who can offer Leonard the most money.

In the interview, Embiid said that his game is better whenever he is having fun. "He's just so gifted. he's a hell of a player, 39 points and you felt all of them". He is followed by Jimmy Butler with 18.9 ppg, 6.3 boards and 5.1 dimes per game. He has done that every game of this series.

"We didn't try to make it look pretty", Ibaka explained to HopopsHype after the game. "He has carried us offensively", Lowry said. We're going to need him to continue to do that, especially next game. The big man from Brazzaville scored a combined 13 points in the first three games of the series. Only 11 teams in National Basketball Association history have won a playoff series after falling behind 3-1, including the Cleveland Cavaliers who clawed their way back to beat Golden State in the 2016 Finals.
