Robert Pattinson is officially the next Batman

Saturday, 01 Jun, 2019

From vampire to superhero, Robert Pattinson has officially been confirmed to star as the next Batman.

Keep in mind that Pattinson is facing the same skepticism that other actors had when they were cast in iconic roles years ago. Neither were the hit Warner Bros. was aiming for, at least not in light of the wild success Marvel has seen with its own superhero movies.

At the time, the news was not yet official, but that did nothing to stop The Discourse: everywhere you turned, someone had an opinion about the possibility of Pattinson playing the Caped Crusader.

Other films he is best known for being in include "Remember Me", "Water for Elephants" and "The Lost City of Z". The actor will also be seen in the upcoming movie Tenet which has been produced by Christopher Nolan.

Is this the new Batman? Films The King, The Devil All The Time and Waiting For The Barbarians are in post-production.

Deadline also reports that this trilogy will have no connection to Ben Affleck's Batman but instead, focus on Bruce Wayne in the formative stages of Batman. His latest film, The Lighthouse, premiered in Cannes earlier this month.

Twitter users had mixed reactions on Pattinson's casting. According to the site, Robert Pattinson will "potentially" have help coming with him in the form of Batman sidekick Robin. Pattinson has not made a public comment, as he does not have social media accounts.

But there was also plenty of support for Pattinson, with some pointing out similar hoopla early on surrounded Heath Ledger's selection as the Joker in "The Dark Knight".
