NBA Finals 2019: Players react to Kevin Durant's Game 5 injury

Wednesday, 12 Jun, 2019

The former NBA MVP will undergo an MRI on Tuesday to determine the severity of his injury.

Durant's injury is one of several of the Warriors continue to deal with. "He's a good teammate".

As Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports reported, general manager Bob Myers revealed that Durant suffered an Achilles injury.

Myers also defended Durant from critics who may have suggested that Durant didn't want to play in the series.

The Toronto Raptors almost won their first NBA Championship on Monday but couldn't seal the deal, losing 106-105 to the Golden State Warriors.

He added: "You understand that this is about an individual, a human being and not 'oh shoot, he's out, he's hurt, we won the championship.' That's probably their initial thought and you hate to see that when a guy is going through pain like that". "I run my basketball operations department".

Durant averaged 26 points, 6.4 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game in the regular season.

It took a few of Toronto's own players, including Kyle Lowry and Danny Green, to stand up to quiet the crowd at Scotiabank Arena, knowing that Durant was in serious pain as he was helped off the court and straight to the locker room.

In the clip, actor Eugene Levy and Drake both feel the energy as they sing those iconic words.

"Major respect for KD wanting to rush back and try to help his team win a championship", Young wrote. "It's not the same being out there without him".

"We do it for Kevin", Thompson said. The line started shrinking Sunday, when it was announced Durant would practice with the Warriors.

It was Toronto's worst nightmare come to life.

"Sometimes the spirit tells you what to do", said Curry, who led all scorers in the game with 31 points. "An incredible win and a disgusting loss at the same time". "He went out there and sacrificed his body". Fans inside the arena cheered when Durant originally went down with the injury.

The clip, which was originally uploaded to Twitter by the user @comeflywithb, shows two individuals getting toppled over by a man in a black hoodie while crossing the street.

While some Raptors fans cheered, Drake appeared to be devastated for his friend.

Many others just sent best wishes, including Miami's Kelly Olynyk, Cleveland's Kevin Love and Atlanta's Trae Young.

"I don't think the fans knew the significance of the injury", Lowry said. But they'll be heading back to California on Tuesday, and allowed the Warriors - the wounded two-time defending National Basketball Association champions - to have renewed life in their quest for a third straight ring. "He's been in similar situations with us where he's had long layoffs".

The surging Raptors didn't seem to need the breather, but the Warriors, minus the injured Kevin Durant and Kevon Looney, did.

He won't be out there again this season.
