In the US the threat from hurricane Dorian stretches from Florida to the southeastern part of Virginia.

ELSEWHERE IN THE TROPICS: The National Hurricane Center is monitoring four other waves in the Atlantic basin; none of them poses a threat to the USA over the next five days. She was listening, she said, to a replay of Bahamas Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis' afternoon press conference and plea for Bahamians to evacuate.

As of Sunday night, Dorian is located about 25 miles northeast of Freeport Grand Bahama Island, roughly 105 miles west of Palm Beach Florida.

USA Today: "Bahamas officials focus on "rescue, recovery and prayer" as Hurricane Dorian slams islands" - "Hurricane Dorian continued its devastating assault on the Bahamas on Monday after making landfall on three islands along the north end of the battered archipelago". Critically injured people were being taken to hospitals on New Providence, the country's most populous island.

Earlier, Dorian churned over Abaco island with battering winds and surf on Sunday. "It wasn't like a, 'You must.' It wasn't like, 'You have to, '" Short said.

"This is the fourth year running that we have Category-5 hurricanes in the Atlantic Ocean".

An advisory from the hurricane centre warned that Florida's east-central coast could see a brief tornado sometime Monday afternoon or evening.

The story starts on Sunday morning, at 10:51 a.m. ET, when Trump tweeted out a warning about the severity of Hurricane Dorian.

That's according to White House spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham.

Nine counties in Florida have issued mandatory evacuations.

Praiseworthy from Trump but dead wrong on one count.

Trump hit the links over the long holiday weekend after canceling a trip to Poland to oversee the federal government's disaster response to the storm. "The storm looks like it could be a very, very big one indeed".

Walt Disney World Resort DIS.N in Orlando will close early on Tuesday, it said in a statement.

The President has no plans listed on his public schedule for Monday.

"I suggested yesterday at FEMA that, along with Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina, even Alabama could possibly come into play, which WAS true".

A mandatory evacuation of entire SC coast took effect Monday covering about 830,000 people. In a statement Virginia's Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam said the southeastern part of the state could begin to feel the effects of the storm by Thursday.

Dorian is officially the strongest hurricane on record in this area.

He said more than 17,000 crew members with Florida Power and Light are on standby throughout the state to restore power should the storm knock it out. At least five deaths have been attributed to the storm.
