Raptors receive rings and 2019 championship banner unveiled before season opener

Brandon Ingram led the Pelicans with 22 points.

Seven of those players who logged big minutes were holdovers from the 2018-19 championship squad, and undrafted rookie Terence Davis II was the only other player Nurse used when the game was still undecided. He only managed to guide them into the postseason once more, as part of a formidable frontcourt with DeMarcus Cousins in 2017-18, but links to the Lakers disrupted his final campaign with the Pelicans before his offseason move to L.A.

National Basketball Association commissioner Adam Silver was joined by the players, team president Masai Ujiri and members of the team's ownership group, front office and coaching staff for the ceremony.

Not that they could have won the title without him, but an interesting fact that Toronto fans can hang onto coming into this year, is that the Raptors were 17-5 when Leonard was out of the lineup last season.

After the festivities, the Raptors got back to work. Going through the whole playoff thing and the crowd was pretty amped up.

Obviously, the call was not overturned, and the Raptors lost a timeout as a result.

The home side settled in after the break with Siakam and Lowry pulling the strings.

Siakam hit a bank shot and added the free throw to cut the deficit to one, then sank a fadeaway jumper with 2:51 to play to put Toronto ahead by one point.

Prince averaged 11.4 points in three seasons with Atlanta. A force at both ends of the floor, Leonard's skillset is not easily replaced.

VanVleet said regulations could go further.

The defending champs begin their season by hosting the Pelicans, who will unfortunately be without No. 1 overall pick Zion Williamson.

The forward recently had surgery to fix a torn meniscus in his right knee. Since the Rockets play their second game against New Orleans and play them again on November 11, seeing Zion on the court against Clutch City will, unfortunately, have to wait until at least December 29.

We tallied 13 winnable games prior to Christmas that the New Orleans Pelicans should be favorited in.
