Benioff and Weiss No Longer Making New Star Wars Trilogy

Thursday, 31 Oct, 2019

The pair, who were set to helm the next "Star Wars" cinematic trilogy, have left the project as of Monday because of scheduling conflicts caused by their recent deal with Netflix, according to Deadline. When George Lucas constructed it, he assembled us also.

"However there are just so many hours in the daytime, and we believed we couldn't do justice to both Star Wars and also our Netflix jobs".

Still, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy isn't completely closing the door on a D&D Star Wars trilogy in the future.

Do you think Star Wars has lost out by losing Benioff and Weiss?

Netflix announced its deal with these Game of Thrones showrunners who wrapped up GoT's eighth and final season earlier this year.

Weiss and Benioff's pact with Netflix came after an intense bidding war between the streamer, Amazon, and Disney. The pair behind the HBO hit series Game of Thrones, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, have officially walked away from their place in a galaxy far, far away. Weiss will no longer be making their planned Star Wars trilogy, which would have kicked off the franchise's post-Skywalker era in 2022.

Don't get us wrong, people should be able to pursue what they want creatively, especially if they find it more fulfilling. Immediately after the eighth and closing period of Game of Thrones aired in the spring of 2019, they ended up achieved with an avalanche of backlash, as disappointed enthusiasts complained about drastic character arcs and misplaced coffee cups, and even identified as for a comprehensive rewrite of the period.

Recall I questioned back in August if they would be leaving Star Wars, and I was right again.

That does not suggest Benioff and Weiss are completely carried out with all things Star Wars without end, while.

Following the relative failure of the stand-alone film "Solo" in 2018, Walt Disney CEO Bob Iger announced he wanted to slow down the pace at which "Star Wars" films are released.

Among the tidbits they feel comfortable sharing: they had no idea why Martin chose to trust them with his life's work. They flat out admitted they didn't know what they were doing on Thrones and then they lost Star Wars.

The season received enormous backlash for its lackluster writing, with several commenters lamenting on how Benioff and Weiss lost the plot in trying too hard to one-up viewers and subvert expectations. It's likely that his is now the project destined to take Star Wars forward for the next generation.
