At least eight people, including five children, were killed today in Russian air strikes, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
Regime forces are now less than four kilometres (two miles) from the strategic city of Maaret al-Numan, Observatory chief Rami Abdel Rahman told AFP.

Before the ground campaign began last Thursday, the United Nations reported that around 60,000 Idlib residents had been displaced since the government launched its bombing campaign at the end of last month.
"The United Nations urges all parties to ensure the protection of civilians and to allow sustainable and unhindered access by all humanitarian parties to provide life-saving assistance to all in need", said Stephane Dujarric, spokesperson for the secretary.
She said that Caesar's law did not bring new anti-Syrian war, and part of it was a psychological war against the Syrian people, noting that the American administration believes that through the maximum pressure Damascus will abdicate and mortgage its political decision. Many have been heading toward the Turkish border for safety.
Turkey now hosts some 3.7 million displaced Syrians, the largest refugee population in the world, after 8-1/2 years of civil war in Syria.
It has pledged to continue its push until it recaptures all of Idlib, calling on civilians to exit areas under jihadist control.
"Russia, Syria, and Iran are killing, or on their way to killing, thousands" of civilians in jihadist-held Idlib, Trump tweeted, adding: "Don't do it!"
A similar death toll was also given by the Turkey-based Syrian National Coalition and the Observatory, which also said 20 people were wounded.
It followed a Turkish ground offensive aimed at forcing Kurdish fighters away from the Turkish border.
A number of of 1000's of civilians have been killed or displaced inside the battle, primarily by regime airstrikes specializing in opposition-held areas. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said officials in Russian Federation and China had blood on their hands for blocking the resolution. The Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas will be the key partner in the project on Moscow's side.
