Ohio State loses touchdown after fumble reversed to incompletion on review

A CFP final match with No. 1 Louisiana State on January 13 in New Orleans' Superdome in front of tens of thousands of rowdy Cajuns.

Higgins had one catch for 21 yards before leaving the game. The Buckeyes held a 16-0 lead over the Tigers, only to allow 21 unanswered points, eventually losing, 29-23.

Then after downing a punt at Clemson's 1-yard line and getting a three-and-out against the Tigers, gave the ball right back to them with a roughing the passer penalty. Lawrence, after being up and down for much of the game, suddenly turned into the Golden Boy who led Clemson to a national title as a freshman previous year. While Lawrence had 16 carries for 107 yards and a touchdown, he looked awfully comfortable throwing from the pocket on Saturday. Etienne recorded 10 rushes for 36 yards and one score, and added three catches for 98 yards and two receiving touchdowns.

"Just the fight of this team". There, Lawrence got the signal for a clever quarterback-keeper-turned-pass to Travis Etienne, a play the Tigers had not been executing well in practice. Ohio State worked the ball inside the Clemson 30 with two more passes and a Fields run.

Olave took blame for the turnover. I felt like it was good just because of how well we set it up throughout the game. "It's a shame somebody had to lose that game". At the end of the day, you can't question the heart of a champion as Clemson rose battled back and showed their championship DNA.

Burrow passed for seven touchdowns in the first half, including four to wide receiver Justin Jefferson, as the Bayou Bengals advance to their first national championship appearance since 2011, when they were blanked by Alabama. Lawrence enters the matchup undefeated in his Clemson career, and the Tigers are on a 29-game winning streak.

Targeting was called on the play, which extended the Tigers drive and ultimately ended on the first Clemson touchdown.

From that point on the calls against the Buckeyes started to pile up. Sports national college football writer Pete Thamel in a text message, blasted a call by replay officials which overturned a fumble called on the field when Buckeye DB Jeff Okudah stripped Clemson's Justyn Ross and Ohio State's Jordan Fuller scooped and scored. Refs took a look at the play and ruled that Ross didn't make a "football move" on the resulting in an incomplete pass.

"We played hard, we played bold, but certainly [there] were a lot of plays in that game that didn't go our way and [are] very hard to swallow right now", Day told reporters in the postgame news conference, as ESPN reported.

"We didn't let it get us down".

In the end, Clemson just found a way to win.
