It has infected almost 14,500 people across China and more than 100 in 20 other countries, including the United States.
As the coronavirus outbreak continues to spread, the United States has declared a public health emergency and is barring foreign nationals who have recently traveled to China from entering the country.
There have also been approximately 14,300 confirmed cases of the virus around the world, with 26 countries outside of China reporting cases of the illness. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Sunday confirmed an additional case in California. Prior to this, India has reported two positive cases of nCoV - both from Kerala.
"This is an unprecedented situation and we've taken aggressive measures", she said, referring to how the virus can spread between people and reports that the virus can spread from someone showing only mild symptoms or even showing no symptoms, a condition known as being asymptomatic. The moves included restricting travel to and from China and implementing mandatory quarantining for some foreign travelers coming into the country.

Foreigners who have traveled in China within 14 days of their arrival will be denied entry.
There are now two confirmed cases of coronavirus in Russian Federation, both Chinese citizens. One tested negative; the other is in isolation until results are finalized. The United Arab Emirates reported its fifth case of the coronavirus.
In the City, the FTSE 100 closed 40 points higher at 7,326, while New York's Dow Industrial average was up more than 300 points in early trading. The national airlines of Qatar, Egypt and Saudi Arabia have all stopped flights to and from China.
Huoshenshan Hospital and a second facility with 1500 beds that is due to open this week were built by construction crews who are working around the clock in Wuhan, the city in central China where the outbreak was first detected in December. The pair arrived from Wuhan and are being isolated in Frankfurt.
Travel restrictions in place to combat spread of coronavirus
With infection cases mounting rapidly, a number of countries have evacuated their citizens from Wuhan.
While the Wuhan coronavirus keeps spreading within the United States, health officials are trying to rush testing capabilities across the country. Of the 11 cases in the US, the vast majority involved people who had recently traveled to Wuhan, signaling that people who weren't in the outbreak's epicenter were predominantly not at risk. The US, Japan, Singapore and Australia have imposed similar restrictions despite criticism from China and an assessment from the World Health Organization that such measures were unnecessarily hurting trade and travel.
The mortality rate for the new coronavirus is about 2.1%, now far lower than the 9.6% of SARS.
No confirmed cases of the pneumonia-like virus have yet surfaced on the continent.
Chinese stocks suffered their biggest one-day sell-off since 2015 on Monday, as anxiety continued about the economic fallout from the coronavirus epidemic.
According to him, scientists have assured that the epidemic would lose its momentum in the next two weeks.
Zhejiang has 661 confirmed infections, with 265 of those in Wenzhou, according to the government.
