Rep. Doug Collins, R-Ga., told Newsmax TV on Tuesday he is still "feeling great" in his self-imposed quarantine after coming in contact with a person infected with the coronavirus at the Conservative Political Action Conference last month.

Earlier on Monday, Mr Trump downplayed the threat of the disease, which has recorded more than 600 cases of the COVID-19 virus in the United States, and 26 deaths.

Gaetz isn't the first lawmaker to be placed in self-quarantine. Sen.

A prominent Conservative leader who shook hands with an individual subsequently diagnosed with coronavirus then went on to shake hands with US President Donald Trump and his family members, triggering concerns among Washington's political elite about how close the virus has gotten to the center of power.

The other three are Republican Senator Ted Cruz and Republican Representative Paul Gosar, both of whom also were exposed at the CPAC conference, and Democratic congresswoman Julia Brownley.

Gaetz made headlines last week when he donned a gas mask on the House floor amid the outbreak of the virus.

US Vice President Mike Pence said Monday he was unaware if Donald Trump had been tested for the novel coronavirus.

And it has emerged Mr Schlapp also had contact with an attendee who has since tested positive for Covid-19.

Gaetz was notified of his contact after he got onto Air Force One with the president. So too is whether President Trump - who in a speech at CPAC suggested the coronavirus scare was a "hoax" perpetrated by Democrats - may have come into contact with anyone infected. I will follow the recommendations of the House Physician and my office will provide updates as appropriate.

Two aides to Collins will also self-quarantine, according to an aide familiar with the situation. They told ABC News they are not experiencing any symptoms at the time and feel fine. Reporters traveling with the president saw Gaetz board Air Force One on Monday.

Last week, the Florida Republican posted a photo of himself wearing a gas mask while evaluating a congressional spending package to fight COVID-19.

At least two lawmakers, Representatives Ro Khanna and Josh Harder announced Monday they would convert their separate in-person town hall meetings to a virtual one to be conducted on Facebook Live and a telephone town hall, respectively. "Once he landed, he then was immediately tested".

The big picture: Multiple members of Congress have self-quarantined after a CPAC attendee tested positive for the coronavirus last week.

"The CDC doctor called me Sunday night and said that I shouldn't be at any risk. And a lot of good things are going to happen", he said. "So that's what we're doing and we're trying to observe all the basic hygienic processes", Gohmert said.

In another statement, Gaetz said his office in Washington is closed but his office in Florida is still open. The California Democrat also said she is closing her Washington D.C. office this week after the interaction with the individual who is now self-quarantining.
