‘I’m Satisfied’: Pelosi Praises Biden’s Non-Existent Response to Sexual Assault Allegation

Saturday, 02 May, 2020

On Wednesday's broadcast of WNYC's "Brian Lehrer Show", House Democratic Caucus Chairman Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) stated that Tara Reade's allegation against 2020 Democratic presidential candidate former Vice President Joe Biden is "a serious allegation raised by a serious individual and needs to be investigated seriously".

In the last few days, as more sources publicly corroborated Tara Reade's sexual assault claim against Joe Biden, self-proclaimed feminist progressives are showing they never meant to #BelieveAllWomen-just some.

"No, it is not true", Biden said.

"I can't speak for Biden, I can only say I think he should respond", Mr. Trump said at a White House event. But it's irrelevant. It never happened.

The GOP argues Democrats aren't being consistent, pointing to aggressive questioning and coverage of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh when he faced an allegation of sexual assault.

"And I do support Joe Biden", she added.

When CNN anchor Alisyn Camerota noted Biden had not directly spoken about the charge, Pelosi said it was a "matter he has to deal with". Then you have to look at the circumstances and the facts.

The former staffer has said she filed a complaint back in 1993.

In 2011, the Obama DOJ's "Dear Colleague" letter directed institutions of higher learning to adjudicate sexual-assault and misconduct cases under Title IX not by a "clear and convincing evidence" standard, but by a "preponderance of evidence". The general response from prominent Democrats like Nancy Pelosi, Kirsten Gillibrand, and Stacey Abrams has been that Biden didn't do it. Reade says that she filed a complaint on then Senator Biden and his behaviour toward her.

"I don't remember any type of complaint she might have made, it was 27 years ago, and I don't remember, neither does anyone else that I am aware of", he said. Trump has been accused by more than a dozen women of sexual assault and misconduct over the years, allegations he and his aides have denied.

In subsequent reporting, other friends of Reade's have come forward to say she told them about the incident at the time. "But ultimately, the truth matters".

"The papers from my Senate years that I donated to the University of DE do not contain personnel files". Her story has changed a few times.

Reade and seven other women had come forward previous year to accuse Biden of inappropriate contact.

Biden expanded on this philosophy in his statement: "Two things are not complicated".

One sign of how the controversy threatens to consume Biden's campaign: When he appeared Thursday for a Instagram interview with soccer star Megan Rapinoe, the comments posted by viewers included many clamoring for Rapinoe to question Biden about Reade's allegations. Reade publicly accused him of the assault on a podcast in March.

He went on to request that the archives release any complaints against him by Tara Reade. Halper's report said Biden pushed Reade up against a wall and reached under her skirt. Even worse: We now know Biden believes that allegations against him should be evaluated using the precise principles that he would deny others.

At the time, Biden's deputy campaign manager and communications director Kate Bedingfield, in a statement to Fox News said: "Women have a right to tell their story, and reporters have an obligation to rigorously vet those claims".
