Sen. Cotton Backs Graham Call for Subpoenas in Flynn Case

Thursday, 21 May, 2020

"I want to do it before the election - I want to get all the information out there", Graham told reporters in the Capitol on Tuesday.

The Republican from SC announced Monday evening that the Senate Judiciary Committee will vote June 4 on a subpoena authorization to review documents and solicit testimony from an array of senior officials from the previous administration.

Graham dismissed concerns it would look political, saying he had been "planning this for a long time". I have no doubt that they (Obama and Biden) were involved in it. "I gave Mueller all the space he needed to do his job. We are not going to lower the standards just to achieve a result".

Democratic nominee Joe Biden has responded to the scandal on a Yahoo News town hall.

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, and Sen.

Sens. Grassley and Johnson say the administration's deep-state surveillance operation on the Trump campaign involved unmasking even more US citizens tied to the campaign that preceded the official launch of Crossfire Hurricane.

It appears Jimmy Carter, one of the five living presidents, did not attend a ceremony for his White House portrait after Reagan took office - but his White House communications director told NBC News that it likely wasn't in the former president's style and that he was focused on setting up his library after leaving office.

The senator's request comes days after the acting director of national intelligence, Richard Grenell, released a list of names of Obama-era officials who potentially received intelligence reporting connected to Michael Flynn, Trump's first national security adviser, in the months following the 2016 election.

If Trump wins a second term in November, Obama may have to wait until 2025 to have his portrait revealed and displayed in the White House among every US president before him.

The newest probe, though, could be the most extensive so far. Graham said the witnesses he may call will depend on the documents he receives.

The officials who may be subpoenaed include former FBI Director James Comey, former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, former CIA Director John Brennan, former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates, and many others.

An official portrait unveiling for former President Barack Obama at the White House isn't expected to occur anytime soon as his successor, President Donald Trump, accuses him of unsubstantiated and unspecified crimes.

President Trump claimed the Department of Justice has continued to favor the Democrat Party.

Attorney General William Barr has his own investigation ongoing into the origins of the FBI's Russian Federation investigation.

That is why more than 1,900 former and current Justice Department officials reiterated their call for Barr to resign for having "once again assaulted the rule of law".
