Biden: ‘I will be a president for all Americans’

He's projected to have taken the state of Pennsylvania - giving him enough electoral college votes to become the next President of the White House.

Democrat Joe Biden has won the United States presidential elections after the surpassing 270 Electoral College votes.

On Friday, Trump - who falsely claimed he had won the election in the early hours of Wednesday - tweeted that Biden "should not wrongfully claim the office of the president" because legal proceedings were just beginning.

US Vice-President-elect Kamala Harris on Saturday called on Americans to "get started" with the work ahead after networks projected that Democrat Joe Biden, her running mate, defeated Republican incumbent Donald Trump.

The delayed declaration of Biden's win has rankled some who felt the announcement should've already been made because of Biden significant margin in the state of Pennsylvania which was already insurmountable. "In the face of unprecedented obstacles, a record number of Americans voted", Biden said on Twitter.

Joseph Biden's political career has seen him serve as a Senator for DE from 1978 to 2009, he was elected by his constituents for six terms. "We are watching history unfold at the end of what has been an extraordinary election week And now, the new President-elect, Joe Biden, faces what may be the biggest challenge of his public life, trying to unite a country that is deeply divided".

Could electors be chosen on some other basis than the popular vote in a given state?

Despite the call for Biden, President Trump has refused to concede and promised to take legal action on Monday. Before the election day on Tuesday, about 100 million votes had been cast.

If ballots were cast illegally, they can not be allowed to count.

At one point overnight, Trump and Biden supporters briefly scuffled outside the Maricopa County Tabulation and Election Center. Now, we're focused on counting the votes.
