Kamala Harris delivers historic first speech as vice president-elect

"Let's work together!" tweeted French President Emmanuel Macron.

State officials and election administrators in both MI and Wisconsin, as well as many other states, quickly dismissed the possibility of any fraudulent votes being included in their count, saying every vote is triple checked by the municipality, county and state.

President-elect Joe Biden will announce a 12-member coronavirus task force on Monday, his first step toward fulfilling one of his biggest campaign promises - to mount an effective response to the pandemic that has infected millions and damaged the US economy.

"We're looking forward to working with the next USA government", German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas tweeted. "We have to say that first, then figure out where we move from there".

However, in Arizona, where the race was close, a group of nearly 1,000 Trump supporters gathered in Phoenix to protest what they said was a stolen election.

It also drew mixed reviews in Iraq.

The county - which includes Arizona's biggest city, Phoenix - a year ago rolled out new tabulation equipment that made Sharpie pens the best option on Election Day because they have the fastest drying ink, Megan Gilbertson, the Maricopa County Elections Department's communications director, said earlier this week.

Bexar County voted for Biden over Trump 52% to 46%.

It described Biden's vow of a return to normalcy as "mission impossible".

Indeed, detractors were outliers.

Joe Biden is pledging to be a president "who seeks not to divide but to unify".

The win was a historic one: Biden running mate Kamala Harris, a tough-talking California senator and former prosecutor, is now destined to be the first woman and the first person of colour to occupy the office of the vice-president.

India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi also tweeted on Biden's "spectacular victory", but there was no immediate reaction from other big players in USA relations, including China, Israel, Russia and Saudi Arabia. The Prime Minister said he is looking forward to working closely together once again to take India-US relations to greater heights.

Kamala Harris, soon to be the first woman and person of colour to serve as Vice President of the United States of America, has also tweeted following her victory.

"It's about the soul of America and our willingness to fight for it".

Harris' late mother was from India.

While prematurely declaring his victory in the wee hours of Wednesday, only about three hours after polling closed, Trump threatened to ask the Supreme Court to stop vote counting in states where he was leading at the time.

Henriette Sonne came to the USA about a year ago from her home country of Denmark.

"So we are hoping, and we are confident that the relationship between India and the USA will reach new heights under President Biden and PM Modi", he added. His campaign has announced lawsuits contesting results for several states. That included Brazil's President Jair Bolsonaro, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the powerful ruler of Saudi Arabia.

"This would ALSO change the Election result in numerous States, including Pennsylvania, which everyone thought was easily won on Election Night, only to see a massive lead disappear, without anyone being allowed to OBSERVE, for long intervals of time, what the happened".

We are the United States of America.

The US approach to Japan, South Korea, Australia and other allies is likely to be friendlier than before and the US engagement in the Indo-Pacific region is expected to remain robust and perhaps more dynamic.

There was also no immediate statement from Russia's President Vladimir Putin.

"In those moments when this campaign was at its lowest ebb, the African American community stood again up for me", Biden said. The president routinely mused at rallies how he had the election won before the virus reached the US earlier this year. "It gives hope that integrity, honesty and perseverance still matter", Kabwe said.

Not everyone accepted Biden's win. It takes sacrifice. But there is joy in it. "The sweetest news in 2020", Anwar el-Hawary, the former editor of Egypt's Al-Masry Al-Youm newspaper, the country's largest independent daily, said in a Facebook post.

Biden and Harris have already declared their victory over Trump.

But Donald Trump has far from conceded defeat, persisting on his claims over electoral fraud.
