US President-elect Joe Biden and vice president-elect Kamala Harris have received a briefing from the national security experts about the diplomatic, defence and intelligence challenges facing the country.
Says the Federal Reserve approach to dollar has been in positive direction.
President Donald Trump's repeated insistence that widespread fraud undermined this month' presidential election has left a mark on Americans' faith in the voting process, according to a postelection USC Dornsife survey released today.
That's because Donald Trump continues to bunker down, refuses to acknowledge the reality that he lost the election to Biden and General Services Administrator Emily Murphy still has not done her job and "ascertained" that Biden is the apparent victor of the election.
During a news conference in Wilmington, Del., on Thursday, Harris and Biden gave a few additional details about what was discussed during the incoming administration's meeting with the governors.
"We are making decisions that are different in different states, and it's based upon the uniqueness that we have", he said.
The letter follows one similar in tone sent by Senate Democrats who have also requested a briefing from Murphy and have called on her to let the transition move forward. Trump, meanwhile, is continuing to spread misinformation and sow doubt about a democratically held election he lost.
The US government agency that launches the transition process - the General Services Administration (GSA), headed by a Trump appointee - has not yet recognised Democrats Biden and Harris as winners of the November 3 presidential election. Also appearing online were the leaders of Biden's virus task force: Vivek Murthy, a former surgeon general; David Kessler, an ex-head of the Food and Drug Administration; and Marcella Nunez-Smith of Yale University.
Murphy is under mounting pressure from election watchdogs, Democrats, a growing number of Republicans, the American Medical Association and her predecessor to recognize Biden as the victor.
"Unfortunately, my administration hasn't been able to get everything we need", the president-elect said.
In 2016, for instance, Trump was ascertained the day after the election, despite his lead being much smaller than Biden's is in 2020.
The US has been hit hard by the pandemic with over 11.5 million total cases. "We do understand that we need a new stimulus package, and I hope that can be done, but that's something that's up to the Congress right now".
So far, the governors have not swayed the Republican president.
Georgia was expected Thursday to release results of a hand recount of votes reaffirming President-elect Joe Biden as the state's victor, as Donald Trump and his legal team reiterated their claims of widespread fraud.
Thursday's meeting with the governors, on the other hand, had been productive, he said.
"He was checking to make sure I was safe after seeing/hearing about the threats and doxxing", Wayne County Board of Canvassers chairwoman Monica Palmer told the Detroit Free Press, referring to personal information posted about her on social media.
