In the days after hundreds of Trump's supporters attacked the U.S. Capitol building, the outgoing president's approval rating was at an all-time low.
On Tuesday, The View started things off by addressing Trump's acquittal for inciting insurrection, even though his final impeachment vote was the most bipartisan in US history.
Investigations into the riot were already planned, with Senate hearings scheduled later this month in the Senate Rules Committee.
"President Trump is still liable for everything he did while he was in office as an ordinary citizen", McConnell said. She later served as a congressional staffer during the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. That would elevate the investigation a step higher, offering a definitive government-backed accounting of events.
What has Joe Biden said?
Why can't the vast majority of Americans see what we can see? "That it must always be defended", President Biden said after the trial.
He insisted the courts were a more appropriate venue to hold Mr Trump accountable than a Senate trial. They may also argue, as was done during the impeachment case, that Trump's speech was protected by the First Amendment. That acquittal is likely to open the door to fresh legal scrutiny over Trump's actions before and during the siege.
That said, there is no evidence that Trump intended for the crowd to physically prevent Congress from carrying out its duties.
"His behavior after the election was over the top", Graham said. "He will never do what needs to be done, or what is right for our Country".

The political fallout from the attack continues to reverberate, especially with Republicans divided between those who blame Trump and those who remain loyal to the former president. As CNN writes, if they proceed, "it would mean the former President and others would be subject to discovery and depositions, potentially exposing details and evidence that weren't released during the Senate impeachment trial".
The vote was 57-43 in favour of conviction, but 67 votes were required to convict him.
The Republicans who joined Cassidy in voting to convict were Sens.
Whatley believes Trump played a strong role in in helping down-ballot North Carolina candidates in 2020, including newly reelected GOP Sen.
"Let's talk a little bit about women and having babies", she added. "We needed more senators with spines".
"If that's the truth [about Republicans], then the Democratic Party is the party of socialism and late-term abortions and cancel culture and no responsibility or ramifications for any of your actions", McCain retorted.
Burr said in a statement after the trial that Trump "bears responsibility" for the riot at the U.S. Capitol on January 6. The Senate, in an earlier vote, had deemed the trial constitutional.
"He didn't get away with anything. And the DA in Atlanta said that she is expanding her investigation to include the making of false statements".
Dean also backed the idea of an impartial investigative commission "not guided by politics but filled with people who would stand up to the courage of their conviction".
