Mourinho on Pogba relationship: "Don't say bull****"

Sunday, 18 Feb, 2018

Mourinho hit back at what believes are "lies" and "bulls***" regarding the France worldwide before he later talked about his desire to strengthen the position in the next transfer window.

Mourinho admitted that in the last two matches Pogba "did not play well".

And to back that up manager Jose Mourinho went as far as to describe rumours of a rift between him and Pogba as "lies".

Huddersfield Town will have to make do without influential midfielder Aaron Mooy against Manchester United after the Australia global suffered a knee injury during the Terriers' much-needed win against Bournemouth last weekend.

In the last few weeks, the performances of Paul Pogba have come under scrutiny.

"I don't want to speak to you about my conversations with my players". I told you that one or two months ago when we were speaking about the market.

Mourinho was asked at a news conference on Friday whether there was a problem between player and manager, and the Portuguese coach did not hold back. "It's a big lie that we don't agree with his position and his dynamic within the team", he fumed.

"Lets go step by step".

He said, "We need to sign a midfield player".

"I think you are nice with your words because when you say a lot of speculation you should say a lot of lies", he said.

Mourinho is likely to name a strong line-up as he has done in previous rounds against lower-league opponents Derby and Yeovil, with the FA Cup United's best chance of silverware this year.

If United are to have any hope of silverware this season, as well as finish the season strongly in second place behind City, Pogba has to be at his best, and Mourinho has to do all he can to make that happen.

"If, for you, promotion is that they train regularly with us, they have been promoted for a long time". He is not playing well, period. The next one is the one that, tomorrow 7.30 p.m., we are out of the FA Cup or we are in the quarter final.

It is not the first time that Real Madrid has shown interest in Paul Pogba.

Still, though, Pogba hasn't been as impressive as he was during the 2016-2017 campaign, that saw United lift trophies; if you include the Community Shield. 4-3-3. You know his favourite position in the 4-3-3? "No.8 on the left", Mourinho said.

He said: 'The position is quite ridiculous. You can't have both him and Pogba roaming across the pitch, because then you'll lose the shape of your team. [Nemanja] Matic as a six, [Jesse] Lingard on the right side of Matic and Pogba on the left side. Manchester United announced the starting lineup against Huddersfield.
