The diplomats said that the Chinese representative claimed that tensions between India and Pakistan were escalating, and cited Indian army chief Mukund Naravane's statement on Parliament's 1994 resolution that Pakistan should take PoK (Pakistan-occupied Kashmir) on vacation. China made a request to deliberate on the Kashmir issue under the agenda of "Any Other Business Points".
Majority of the 15 members said there should not be any statement or outcome issued after the consultations and their will prevailed, leaving China to come out and make a statement in its national capacity followed by Pakistan.
After yesterday's meeting, Chinese Ambassador Zhang Jun said the Foreign Minister of Pakistan had written letters to the Security Council, asking it to "pay attention to the current situation in Jammu and Kashmir".
While many other countries have also backed India's position that this is an internal matter and a bilateral one, there have been concerns expressed about the detentions of political leaders and the internet restrictions.
According to the NDMA, rains in Balochistan have claimed 20 lives and 35 homes have damaged. "But if you think this is not true then you can look at other sources".
"We are happy that neither alarmist scenario painted by the representatives of Pakistan nor any of the baseless allegations made repeatedly by representatives of Pakistan in the United Nations fora were found to be credible today", Akbaruddin told PTI.

This is the second such meeting on the prevailing situation in the Union Territory after the Indian administration amended Article 370 of the Constitution to revoke the state's special status in August previous year.
Russia, which had opposed to the motion in the United Nations, said that it stands firmly for the normalisation of relations between India and Pakistan.
China had made similar moves in August past year, which went through, but the December attempt was postponed. "And in this region, there are still International Observer Groups and it has always been on UNSC agenda", he said.
